There are some risks that come with undertaking a mummy makeover. However, they are usually experienced if the surgeons that worked on you are not keen in what they are doing. The following are some of the most common complications.
1. Pulmonary Emboli
This is the accumulation of blood clots on the lungs. The blood clots block one of your pulmonary arteries in the lungs. The blood clots travel from the area that has undergone mommy makeover and finds its way to the lungs. It is very risky to undergo a plastic surgery in an unqualified or uncertified institution. This is because pulmonary emboli can be fatal. However, immediate medication and treatment will be able to reduce the chances of you dying. It is, therefore, advisable you look for a certified surgeon to be in charge of your mommy makeover.
After the operation, the exposed areas of incisions can be infected if left exposed. If you strain the part of the incision, it might pull apart to create a conducive environment for you to get infected. If it is not kept clean, then bacteria are bound to settle there. You might start noticing and increased redness around the area of the incision. There might also be some bad odor coming from the area. In more serious cases, there is the presence of discharge. This is proof enough that this field has developed a certain infection.
This is whereby there is the presence of blood clots under the skin. The blood clots will cause a swelling on the skin tissue. 4. Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
This is similar to pulmonary emboli only that it occurs deep in the veins. It can occur in one or more veins. DVT causes excruciating pain and swelling of the affected area. However, it sometimes happens without any symptoms. If after undergoing mommy makeover you do not move for a long period of time, you will develop this complication. Developing deep vein thrombosis is not good because the blood clots might cause a blockage in the passage of blood.

5. Wound Dehiscence
This is a mommy makeover complication where a wound ruptures in the place where you have been stitched. There are certain elements that might lead to wound dehiscence, and they are either poor knotting by surgeons or grabbing of stitches intentionally or accidentally. Another cause might be pressure applied on the wound after you undergo the surgery. If you notice that the area starts to bleed, or you experience a lot of pain along the surgical suture, then you know that you have developed wound dehiscence.
